North Coast

Seixal
In this charming northern town, with its small terraces where the local grapes are grown, is a small black-sanded beach called Praia da Laje. It also has two natural swimming pools.
São Vicente und Ponta Delgada
The new bathing area in São Vicente also protects Fajã da Areia from the sea with a wall.
This is a very popular place with surfers and there are nautical sports facilities, a solarium, an outdoor café and a promenade between Varadouro and Baía dos Juncos.
Ponta Delgada, the neighbouring northern town that “rests on the sea”, also has new facilities that include two swimming pools, sunbathing areas, a food court, shower rooms and breakwater that has resulted in a beach in a small bay.

São Jorge

Faial

Motor sports fans will find a go-kart track near the mouth of the stream.
Santana
Santana has 3400 inhabitants and is surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve. Santana is known by its triangular thatched roofs that characterize the image of Santana. Approximately 100 of these historic buildings still stand in the municipal district of the city. The historical farm houses have red painted window shutters and doors. Particularly remarkable here, are the thatched roofs that reach the floor of the houses.
In Santana you find also the theme park (Parque Temático). Bungee jumping, ox slide or boat trips, pavilions with the history and culture of Madeira - here is so much to see. One of the pavilions is aimed especially for children, there is also a labyrinth.

Porto da Cruz
Porto da Cruz is known for the imposing mountain looming over the sea, called “Penha d’Águia” and for its local wine.
